For example learning to kick above your belt and then work up 1 or 2 inches every 2 weeks. 2nd is to make a plan on how you will achieve your goal, ideally write this down to ensure you stick to the plan.  Include what kind of exercise you will do and for how long. 3rd start slowly, have you ever heard of the saying walk before you run? I’m simply saying, learn the basic skills and technique before you move on.
